ABOUT
Souter Point is a boutique management consultancy helping organisations grow, compete and deliver by solving complex strategic and operational challenges.
Our work is organised around three complementary areas:
-
Strategy;
-
Bidding; and
-
Project & Programme Management.
Clients typically engage us when they need experienced support for an important decision or initiative that requires additional expertise, capacity or independent challenge. That might mean:
-
Evaluating a new market;
-
Designing a service;
-
Managing a major public-sector bid;
-
Mobilising a new contract;
-
Establishing operations in another country; or
-
Delivering a business transformation programme.
We work with organisations of all sizes and have supported clients with projects across the UK, Europe, China, the USA, Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Most of our clients are based overseas, including organisations from France, India, Germany, Switzerland, Turkey, China and the United States.
Much of our work is with private companies operating in public-sector markets, although we also work with government, third-sector organisations and businesses operating entirely within the private sector.
Why clients choose Souter Point
Our clients usually come to us for three reasons.
First, we have a proven track record of delivering complex assignments. Our case studies demonstrate work ranging from multi-country government bids and major service mobilisations to market research, transformation programmes and Project Management Office design.
Second, clients recommend us. More than 90% of our work comes through referrals, repeat engagements or introductions from organisations and individuals we have previously supported.
Third, clients want experienced people working directly alongside their teams. With Souter Point, the person who helps understand and structure the assignment remains closely involved in delivery. We do not agree to a senior-level project and then hand it to a junior consulting team.
When an assignment requires additional capabilities, we can assemble small specialist teams that include subject-matter experts, public-sector specialists, technical expertise, or additional experienced delivery resources. We can normally mobilise rapidly — often within 24 hours — and adapt our approach to demanding or changing deadlines.
Experience built around delivery
Souter Point has delivered complex client assignments since 2015, building on experience gained before that within a global business process outsourcing organisation.
Engagements range from intensive assignments lasting a few days to programmes running for a year or more, although a typical engagement lasts around three to six months and can be extended where the client continues to require support.
We work particularly extensively across visas, passports and immigration; biometrics and identity; business process outsourcing; and music and the creative industries. These specialisms allow us to combine consulting disciplines with a deeper understanding of the markets, operating models, technologies and procurement environments in which our clients work.
Structured thinking, practical delivery
Our approach is based on recognised good practice, adapted to the circumstances rather than applied bureaucratically.
For service and product design, we believe solutions should be customer-centric, outcome-led and commercially realistic. We typically work from:
Policy / Strategy / Requirements → Process → Technology
We first establish the business outcomes, customer requirements, regulatory constraints and strategic objectives. We then design the processes and customer journeys needed to achieve them. Only then do we determine how technology should enable and improve those processes.
Our work draws on design thinking, process mapping, value-chain analysis and C4 technical architecture methods, alongside practical operating experience.
For project and programme delivery, we bring recognised management disciplines. Souter Point holds PRINCE2 Practitioner and Managing Successful Programmes certifications, and our design capabilities have also been informed by design-thinking training at the Stanford d.school in California.
How we work
Every engagement is different, but our starting point is deliberately simple.
We begin with a discovery conversation to understand the challenge, objectives, constraints and timescales. We then conduct a needs analysis and normally hold a playback session to demonstrate our understanding of what is required and how we propose to address it.
From there, we agree the commercial arrangement, including the scope, deliverables, timetable, standards, responsibilities and ways of working.
Wherever possible, we prefer a fixed-price model with fixed deliverables. This gives clients certainty on cost and outcomes, aligns incentives, and encourages us to deliver value efficiently rather than maximise billable time.
Where requirements cannot be defined precisely, we can work on a day-rate basis or combine both approaches. For example, we might deliver a bid-support assignment for a fixed price through to the original submission deadline, with any client-requested extension supported on a flexible day-rate basis.
Professional standards, confidentiality and responsible AI
We place a high value on transparency, accountability, confidentiality and professional judgement. Many of our assignments involve commercially sensitive transactions, government procurements, or programmes requiring significant discretion, including work that requires government security clearance.
The same principle applies to our use of artificial intelligence. Souter Point operates a Responsible and Ethical Use of AI Policy, incorporated into new contractual arrangements. We explain what artificial intelligence tools we may use, how they will support delivery and where human review and accountability remain essential. Clients can also opt out of artificial intelligence use where required.
Because of the nature of our work, we cannot publicly disclose many assignments or client details. Where possible, however, we use anonymised case studies to demonstrate the challenges addressed, the work undertaken and the outcomes achieved.
Experience you work with directly
Souter Point is led by a consultant with an MBA from a leading London business school and more than 20 years' experience delivering complex projects across the private, public and third sectors.
Previous clients and organisations supported include The Boston Consulting Group, Capita, Sopra Steria, Teleperformance, PSI, Partners Group, UK Visas & Immigration, Generator North East and The Salvation Army.
The result is a consulting model built around a simple principle: experienced people, working directly with clients, using structured methods to solve difficult problems and deliver practical outcomes.
