BUSINESS TRANSFORMATION

Sometimes, more than incremental change is needed to achieve your growth ambitions, and your organisation must undertake a business transformation programme.

Such programmes are complex, touch every aspect of your organisation and require careful planning and implementation. At Souter Point, we can support you through this process by providing world-class programme management and project management services.

PROGRAMME MANAGEMENT

Programme management involves managing an overarching suite of transformation activities that typically touch every part of your organisation.

The programme management services we provide at Souter Point are aligned with global best practice, using Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) as a framework.

This ensures that your business transformation programme is successfully managed throughout its lifecycle, establishing governances to ensure the right leadership, organisational structures, and controls are in place and that the programme fully delivers on your business's transformation objectives.

Case Study: HGS Transformation Programme

When the UK business of global business process outsourcing company HGS was undertaking a business transformation programme to accelerate recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, Souter Point was appointed as a programme manager to assemble 16 work packages into an overarching programme of work and create governance structures and controls to ensure that executive leadership had full visibility of progress.

Starting from a high-level brief, Souter Point distilled the requirements into 16 work packages, with an executive assigned as accountable for delivery of each work package. Working with the executives, a delivery team was assigned to each work package and high-level deliverables and milestones agreed to create a series of programme plans and a delivery schedule.

After establishing the transformation programme and creating a delivery schedule in an online management tool, Souter Point successfully handed over the programme to HGS's newly created project management office to manage delivery of the 16 work packages under the programme.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

A structured, transparent and clear approach to project management is key to the success of projects of any size - but espeically when a project is strategically important or transformational for your business. When all project team members fully understand their roles, their deliverables are clearly specified and a culture that fosters rich communication is promoted, projects are much more likely to deliver their intended benefits.

Souter Point uses a PRINCE2 Agile approach to project management, using PRINCE2 Agile-certified Practicioners to develop and manage projects of any size and complexity. We can establish and manage projects from a simple brief as well as support existing projects where additional resource is needed.

Case Study: Generator North East Skills for Growth

After successfully supporting third-sector creative talent development agency Generator North East secure more than £600k in funding from a local authority, Souter Point was asked to establish a project that could be handed over 'ready made' to their new project coordinator.

The Skills for Growth project consisted of eight workpackages to be delivered over a 24-month period, two of which had multiple sub-work packages. Souter Point's role was to take the project brief in the form of the funding proposal and interviews with Generator North East's management team, and create a suite of project management documents that could be used immediately by the new project coordinator to deliver the project.

Using a PRINCE2 Agile approach, Souter Point created a document detailing the deliverables of each (sub)work package, along with designing a communications plan, project plan, delivery schedules and governance plan. The project documentation was successfully handed over to the new project coordinator, who could concentrate on project delivery from Day 1.
